The Broken Hill Sculpture Symposium was held in 1993, and left the city with one of it's most spectacular tourist attractions. (It is situated in the Living Desert). A group of sculptors from around the world camped on site while carving huge blocks of sandstone. The largest single stone weighed in at approximately 8 tonnes.
